THE HISTORY OF "VERA" The tall ship "Vera" origins as a fishing boat called "Gjertrude Marie" launched in 1880 in the dockyards of H. Hansen of Svaneke in Denmark and later is fitted out as a ketch and her fabulous history begins with the interesting adventures of the Channel of Skagerrak and the Northern Sea. Only 25 years later the ketch was equipped of its first 4 horse power motor! In 1936 her name was changed to "Vera" and was transformed in a pleasure craft in the dockyards of Ring Andersen in Svendborg. In 1956 without changing its oak hull and find out, the interiors were obtained and the check was rebuilt in teak. With a very detailed restoration, conserving the original fit out, from the sails in duradon sewn by hand, to the natural rigging with tackles, to the ropes in hemp and to the refined, comfortable interiors the "Vera" conserves unchanged its ancient charm, its historic nautical reliance and its excellent Scandinavian sail efficiency. Among the rarest and ancient examples of sail boats, the ketch "Vera" is today one of the most exclusive vessels available in the Mediterranean which offers with the quality of its services, the most ample variety of uses: from a particular party to a meeting, from a relaxing week-end to an unforgettable cruise for two or a family.
